California is starting to bloom...

Margaret's Aunt Anne recently asked if there were flowers starting to bloom where we are. For you, AA, here are a few of our early floral stars!

The calla lilies have loved all the rain; we should have a number of blooms to cut this season. A daisy shrub that should have been cut way back in the fall cares not - it's starting to send out dainty blossoms, and our ivy topiary needs some serious trimming done now - before it begins to crawl the stucco wall! It's peak blooming time for some of the succulents. (Our "rock garden" has taken on a life of its own!) A tired, but determined azalea plant in our front entry way continues to send our beautiful pink flowers in the spring, a begonia sends out its first bloom in many week, and a variegated zonal geranium that should never have survived more than a year or two is once again blooming in a pot on the pillar between our front gate and our neighbors.
