We were up and packed early on Sunday morning, ready to hit the road, but not quite ready to stop enjoying the diversity of the Central California Valley. Our guidebook had recommended visiting the apple orchards on See Canyon Road, a few miles south and west of SLO. What better time of year? The countryside on this winding, tree lined road was incredibly beautiful, the "photo ops" unlimited. We stopped at two orchards; at the first we picked up a small bag of Empire apples, and at the second we got a quart of fresh cider and a jar of locally made honey. If the car hadn't been packed to the gills, we certainly would have brought home more of this wonderful, local grown bounty.
