Located across the road from the San Miguel Mission, this adobe was built around 1846 by Petronilo Rios as his residence and the headquarters for his cattle and sheep operation, called Caledonia. In the 1860's, the adobe served as a hotel and stagecoach stop between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
