A belated birthday gift for Larry...

Back in the final weeks before the wedding, Larry simply couldn't decide what he wanted for his birthday. With so many other things on our plate at the time, we decided that we'd not worry about a gift then; we were sure the right thing would make come to one of us after life returned to normal.

When we were cleaning out our little side kitchen window garden a couple of weeks ago, we decided that we needed "something" ornamental to finish it. And the light bulb finally went off - that's one of our two windows on the local wildlife - the birds, the squirrel who comes to scavenge under the bird-feeder, even the ducks have been known to waddle over to that side yard when they make their annual appearance! So, of course, a statue of the Patron Saint of the Animals, St. Francis of Assisi was the perfect choice! (Both of our dogs have had St. Francis medals on their collars for as long as we've had them.)

Larry's belated birthday gift arrived today, this light weight, resin likeness of the kindly saint, and we're both thrilled with it. (Hope the critters like it, too!)
