"A fun sun"...


Immediately adjacent to our little carved out side garden there was, until three weeks ago, an ailing leylandi cypress growing. Now, all that's left is a stump, which I doubt the association will ever risk grinding out for fear of tearing up irrigation lines. That old tree was leaning, and when the workmen cut it down, they cut it at a bit of an angle. After staring at it for a week or so, we decided that it was the perfect surface for a sun/moon face. Larry traced out the shape of the stump on paper, and we've taken turns designing the face. Today he transfered the sketches to the wood and then began carving out the face with a dremel. It's going to take some time. Watch for photo updates...
